Jelani Jillo brings over a decade of dedicated service in education, currently serving as Administrator Dean of Students for the Spring Lake Park School District. With a passion for student success and educational excellence, he combines extensive classroom and administrative experience with a deep commitment to mental health advocacy and community engagement.
Jelani holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and is currently pursuing his second Master’s degree while working toward his principal licensure. His comprehensive understanding of educational systems, coupled with his hands-on administrative experience, positions him as a transformative leader in K-12 education. As Dean of Students, he plays a pivotal role in shaping school culture, supporting student development, and implementing policies that promote academic achievement and personal growth.
Beyond his educational career, Jelani has demonstrated unwavering commitment to mental health services, having worked for five years as a Mental Health Advocate within one of Minnesota’s largest hospital chains. This experience has equipped him with valuable insights into the intersection of mental health and education, enabling him to better support students, families, and staff in addressing the holistic needs of the school community.
Jelani’s leadership extends far beyond the classroom and hospital walls. For over ten years, he has served as a team representative and currently holds the position of Executive Board Member and Engagement Coordinator for the Oromo Sports Federation in North America. Through this role, he champions cultural preservation, community building, and youth development, demonstrating his commitment to serving diverse communities and fostering inclusive environments.
With his unique combination of educational expertise, mental health advocacy experience, and community leadership, Jelani brings a comprehensive approach to student services and educational administration.
